What does an image to PDF converter do?

Images and PDFs solve different problems. A picture is one flat grid of pixels. A PDF is a document with pages that keeps the same layout on every device, prints at a known paper size and is accepted by almost every upload form, email system and e-signature service.

This converter places each image on its own page and writes a standard PDF file. You can mix formats freely, so a screenshot saved as PNG, a phone photo saved as JPG and a download saved as WebP can end up in the same document. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters when the pictures are ID copies, receipts, contracts or medical letters.

Images of different formats become pages of one PDF. (JPG · PNG · HEIC, PDF)

Mixed formats in one document

Most converters accept only one format at a time. Here the file type is checked from the file contents, not from the name, so a PNG that was renamed to .jpg is still handled correctly. Animated GIFs use their first frame. TIFF and BMP scans are decoded and stored as normal compressed pictures.

Standard JPG photos are placed into the PDF exactly as they are, with no second round of compression. Other formats are decoded and stored as high quality JPEG, or as PNG when they contain see-through areas you chose to keep.

  • Up to 100 images per PDF on a computer and 30 on a phone.
  • Each image can be up to 40 megapixels.
  • Choose One PDF or One PDF per image. Separate files download as a ZIP.

Page size, margins and order

Fit to image gives every page the exact size of its picture, which is best for screenshots and for documents you only read on a screen. A4, US Letter, A3 and US Legal center each picture on a standard sheet and scale it to fit, with a small margin by default. Orientation can follow each picture automatically, so wide images get landscape pages.

The order of the list is the order of the pages. Drag a row to a new place, or focus a row and use its Move up and Move down buttons, which work from the keyboard and with screen readers. Reverse and Sort by name help when a camera numbered the files.

Transparent images and file size

PDF pages are white by default, so see-through areas in a PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF are filled with white. If you need to keep the transparency, switch Transparent areas to Keep transparent. Images that really contain see-through pixels are then stored losslessly.

File size follows the pictures you add. Lower the Image quality setting to shrink photos that have to be re-encoded, or use the compress image tool before you build a long PDF for email.

Questions

How do I convert an image to PDF for free?

Add the image above, press Create PDF and download the file. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

How do I convert an iPhone photo to PDF?

Open this page in Safari, tap Choose files and pick photos from your library. Photos saved as HEIC are not accepted here, so use the HEIC to PDF tool for those, or let your phone share them as JPG.

Can I put several images in one PDF?

Yes. Add them all, put them in order and create one PDF. If you prefer one file per image, choose One PDF per image and download the ZIP.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is built in your browser. Your pictures never leave your device and nothing is stored.

Which image formats can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF (first frame), BMP and TIFF, mixed in any combination.

Will the PDF be sharp enough to print?

Yes, as long as the pictures are. Standard JPG files are stored without recompression, and Keep exact pixels stores other formats without any loss at the cost of a larger file.
