Questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are processed in your browser on your own device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab: after the tool code loads, converting a file makes no request that carries your image.
Is PictureToolbox really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no trial limit and no watermark. The site is supported by advertising.
Which image formats can I convert?
HEIC, WebP, AVIF, JFIF, PNG, JPG, SVG and TIFF, plus PDF pages as images and images into PDF. Some formats, such as HEIC and AVIF, depend on what your browser can decode, and the tool page tells you when yours cannot.
Does converting reduce image quality?
Converting to PNG keeps every pixel. Converting to JPG, WebP or AVIF is lossy, so quality depends on the setting you choose. Keep your original file if you may need it again.
Is there a limit on file size?
Yes, per batch. Image tools take up to 30 files at once on a computer (15 on a phone), up to 50 MB per image (30 MB on a phone) and 300 MB in total (150 MB on a phone). PDFs can be up to 100 MB (50 MB on a phone). Some tools allow more files, such as 100 photos at once for HEIC to PDF. Your device memory is the real ceiling, so if a file fails, try a smaller batch.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and desktop?
Yes. Current Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox work on phones, tablets and computers, and nothing needs to be installed. The exception is HEIC: Firefox cannot open HEIC photos, and Chrome and Edge need a device that can decode HEVC video. Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac opens HEIC without trouble.
Not sure which tool you need?
The image converter opens almost any picture and saves it as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF.
