What is a JPG to PDF converter?
A JPG is a single photo. A PDF is a document that can hold many pages and looks the same on every phone, tablet and computer. Converting JPG to PDF is the usual way to send scanned receipts, ID copies, homework photos or a set of pictures as one tidy file.
This tool places each JPG on its own PDF page. When a photo is a standard JPEG, its original data is embedded as it is, so there is no second round of compression and the picture keeps its full quality. The PDF stays close to the size of the photos you started with: in our test it was only 3,326 bytes larger than a 59 KB JPG.
How much bigger is the PDF than the JPG?
Barely. A standard JPEG is placed in the PDF as it is, so the PDF holds the same bytes plus a small page structure of about 3.3 KB. That overhead is 5.6 percent of a 59 KB web-sized photo and 0.2 percent of a 2.18 MB camera photo.
| JPG | JPG size | PDF size | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Illustration, 1200 x 800 px | 59,035 bytes | 62,361 bytes | +3,326 bytes (5.6%) |
| Photo-like, 4032 x 3024 px | 2,179,008 bytes | 2,182,381 bytes | +3,373 bytes (0.2%) |
Test files: our own sample scene as JPG, and a 12 MP camera-like version of it saved at quality 92. Both are standard JPEGs that need no rotation, so no second compression happens.
Choose the right page size
Fit to image makes every page exactly as large as its photo. It suits screenshots and pictures you only plan to view on a screen. A4 and US Letter place each photo inside a standard sheet, centered and scaled to fit, which is better when you plan to print or upload to a form that expects a normal paper size.
Orientation is automatic by default, so wide photos get landscape pages and tall photos get portrait pages. Add a small or big margin if you want white space around each picture.
Photos from a phone
Phone cameras often store a photo sideways and add a note telling apps to rotate it. If a JPG carries that note, the tool turns the picture upright before it goes into the PDF, so pages never come out rotated. In that case the photo is saved again as a JPEG, and the quality setting controls how much it is compressed. Location and camera data are not added to the PDF.
- Works with .jpg, .jpeg and .jfif files.
- Up to 100 files per PDF on a computer and 30 on a phone.
- Large photos are fine. Very large files may take a few seconds.
Questions
Is it free to convert JPG to PDF here?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is created inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent anywhere.
Can I put several JPG files into one PDF?
Yes. Add as many as the limit allows, put them in the order you want with the arrow buttons or Sort by name, and create one PDF.
Does converting reduce the quality of my photos?
Not for normal JPG files. Their original data is placed in the PDF unchanged. Only photos that need rotating are saved again, using the quality you choose.
How do I change JPG to PDF on an iPhone or Android phone?
Open this page in your phone browser, tap Choose files, select photos from your gallery, then tap Create PDF and download the result. No app is needed.
