How to convert SVG to PNG

  1. Add your SVG filesChoose .svg files or drop them on the box. Each file can be up to 5 MB.
  2. Set size and backgroundLeave width empty to use the SVG size, or type a width in pixels. Scale 1x to 4x multiplies it. The background is transparent unless you pick a color.
  3. Download the PNG filesPress Download on a row, or use Download all (ZIP). The row shows the final pixel size.

Why convert an SVG to PNG?

An SVG describes a picture with shapes and curves, so it can be scaled to any size without blurring. That is perfect for logos and icons, but many places only accept pixels: social networks, app stores, slide decks, e-mail signatures, document editors and some content systems. A PNG is the pixel version, with transparency and no quality loss.

Because the SVG is vector art, you choose the output size when you convert. Render once at a large size and you have a PNG that stays crisp on high-density screens.

The SVG is drawn at your chosen size and saved as PNG pixels. (SVG, PNG)

Choosing the output size

The default size is the size written in the SVG file. If the file only has a viewBox, that is used, and if it has neither, the converter falls back to 1024 by 1024 pixels. Typing a width keeps the proportions, and the height follows automatically.

Scale multiplies the width, so a 200 pixel icon at 4x becomes 800 pixels. Widths from 16 to 8192 pixels are accepted. Very large results are reduced to fit what your device can handle, and the row tells you when that happened.

Safe rendering and its limits

SVG files can contain scripts and links to outside resources. Before drawing, the converter removes scripts, event handlers and external references, and the picture is rendered through a plain image element that cannot run code. Linked images, fonts and style sheets are therefore left out, and the row says so if any were found. Pictures embedded as data inside the SVG work normally.

Text is the most common surprise. If an SVG uses a font that is not installed on your computer, the browser substitutes another one and the lettering changes. Convert text to outlines in your vector editor before exporting for a faithful result.

  • The output keeps transparency unless you choose a background color.
  • Gradients, masks and filters are drawn by the browser, so they look as they do on a web page.
  • Everything stays on your device, with no upload.

Questions

How do I convert an SVG to PNG?

Add the SVG file to this page, choose a width or scale if you want a specific size, and download the PNG.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

Yes, by default. Choose a background color in the options if you need a solid fill.

How do I get a bigger or sharper PNG?

Use the 2x, 3x or 4x scale, or type a larger width. An SVG is redrawn at the new size, so it stays sharp.

Why does the text look different in my PNG?

The SVG probably uses a font your computer does not have, so the browser swaps it. Convert text to outlines before exporting the SVG.

Is it safe to open SVG files from other people?

The converter strips scripts and external links before rendering, and draws through an image element that does not execute code.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The SVG is rendered and saved as PNG in your browser.
